Google announce Nexus 5

Google have announced their latest Android phone in the Nexus range which comes in the form of the Nexus 5. As expected, the Nexus 5 will run Google’s latest version of Android which is Android 4.4, aka Kit Kat (other Nexus devices will receive this update in a few weeks).

Feature wise, the Nexus 5 features a 4.95 inch display which offers up a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080, giving the phone an impressive PPI of 445. Powering the handset is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.26GHz Quad Core processor and 2GB RAM. Like the Nexus 4, the latest iteration is also made by LG and comes in a 16GB or 32GB variant.

Other specifications include NFC and wireless charging, as well as an 8 megapixel camera on the rear and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. The Nexus 5 supports LTE and apparently the battery will offer 7 hours of battery life with continuous 4G usage.

The Nexus 5 has been priced at £299 for the 16GB model, or £339 for the 32GB model from the Google Play Store. However other retailers may offer the handset for slightly less. Carphone Warehouse in the UK for example have said they will release the 16GB model for £295 and will go on sale November 1st.
