Earlier this week we heard that Sony is likely to revive it’s smaller Xperia Compact handset for those who prefer a smaller form factor. We now have word that Sony is prepping the Xperia 1 II successor in the form of the Xperia 1 III.
Size-wise the Xperia 1 III will measure 161.6mm x 67.3mm x 9.6mm. The thickness tops 9.6mm with its camera bump, whereas the rest of the handset will have a thickness of 8.4mm. Within the camera bump, it will sport a triple lens set up, with a telephoto lens set against a glass back, with a metal frame.
Round the front we’ll be met with a 6.5″ OLED display with CinemaWide 4K HDR. We won’t see a notch on the Sony Xperia 1 III, instead the camera will be within the top bezel.
Other specs include a fingerprint sensor in the camera button, a 3.5mm headphone jack and the inclusion of a MicroSD slot. Features that many other companies have dropped and could make the Xperia 1 III stand out from the crowd.
